Brothers Burger

Another late blog post, it seems. In my continuing efforts to update my blog and put up new content, I am here to write another burger joint you might want to try out [if you have not yet tried already].

Brother's Burger has been around for awhile. I remember them having a branch in front of Araneta Coliseum a few years ago. They have just opened a new branch in Ali Mall around a month or two ago, and I just couldn't keep passing by without trying it's charbroiled burgers.

It just so happened that I was a bit on limited budget when I dropped by [one more week before payday, hehee], so I just picked up the aptly named Brothers Burger with cheese and wolfed it down and it's side of onion rings. As usual, here's the pictures:

No burger yet, as the normal serve time is around 5-10 minutes, as I was told.

While waiting, I just took the time to read through my invoice to pass the time. I definitely could not afford to eat here everyday. Although, I could drop by on special occasions and during paydays. Hehee. ^_^v

At last, my burger is here and it looks like the bun has a oats in it instead of the usual sesame seed covered buns. Maybe because there are more people allergic to sesame seeds than those allergic with oats? I dunno really.

As has become the tradition, I remove the top bun to show the actual burger on the inside.

It is interesting to note, that when I started eating the burger itself, the meat's juices were dripping a bit. This is the second time I've eaten a burger where the beef's juices were still dripping when I bit into the meat. A bit messy, but the burgers were great.

Big Better Burgers

Note: All pictures in this blog post, as far as I know, are clickable so that you can see the full sized picture. Just so everyone knows.

This is a very much overdue post. I haven't been able to make time to update this recently, and I've eaten quite a bit since my last post. Here's one of the places I've been to: Big Better Burgers, Cubao branch in SM City Cubao.

I am a big fan of the burger. I'll try anything at least once just for the experience. The varying combinations of toppings and patty sizes keep me coming back for more. Price is always a consideration, but never a hindrance in my quest in trying out every burger around.

This now brings me to this burger restaurant in Cubao named Big Better Burgers. Well, if the quarter pounder is their standard burger, then you know that there is always room for bigger ones. And where's the fun in that? Here's a shot of their menu using my handy dandy cellphone camera [I know, picture quality's not that great but bear with me.

Looking at the menu, a lot of choices are clearly available, and are relatively cheap. Something caught my eye in the menu as I read through the description of each item on the menu. Well. Let me show you:

So I end up trying the Double Dare out, and I wasn't disappointed. It was a great burger experience for me. Fortunately, I was able to take pictures before the burgers were history:

Now, now, I know it's not about the fries, but I digress. It's part of the meal, still.

Close Up White Now - may not make your teeth white at all.

So I've been seeing these new Close Up ads on how it could magically turn your teeth whiter instantly after brushing and I just had to see it myself. However, as I was looking for it in the local supermarket, I ran into the fine print of this product. It may work, but it might not be what most people would expect. Of course, having only my phone camera to work with, here goes something:

Note: I know the picture looks too small on the blog itself, but you could click at the image for its' full-sized goodness.

Just in case it's hard to read on your end, it says: "Based on UK Clinical Study, 2008. Instant whitening effect is temporary and optical; results may vary depending on teeth condition."

Ice Scramble: The Return of A Childhood Treat

One of my favorite childhood treats was ice scramble. I'd have it after school almost everyday while waiting for the school bus to arrive. It was nothing fancy, just like any other food you buy from the side streets. It was almost always the same, colored pink, made of crushed ice and probably sugar, has powdered milk and chocolate syrup on top. I couldn't, for the life of me figure out if there was a secret ingredient or two in this concoction, but it was a real treat, and a great way to cool down on a hot day.

For the past few months, I've seen one stall after another go up in malls hawking this classic treat, but now with each store's own arsenal of add-ons. Yesterday, after mass, one such stall was present outside Rosario Church. I didn't let it pass and I bought me a cup. It cost me 15Php [$0.33 USD] for the said cup. Of course, as I don't really bring around a camera, I just fished for my mobile phone and took a few snaps here and there.

I happened to take a picture of a stall I happened to pass by at Robinson's Galleria, Ortigas:

I spotted another one during my dad's visit to the dermatologist:

Twistix: Potatoes with a Twist!

I went to Robinson's Galleria today and caught a bit of the Women's World 10-ball championship. The lower floors were already filled with spectators so I just watched from the third floor balcony looking down. I chanced upon a food stall with a long line of customers. Seeing that people were lining up, I took my time and saw that it was a fairly new product [at least I haven't seen it before].

Wanting to try things out, I lined up and got the chance to see how the food was prepared. These are fresh potatoes [with the skin on, mind you] being sliced into their twisted ways and deep fried until it's nice and crispy. Flavor is added afterwards [choices include the typical potato add-ons such as cheese, barbeque, sour cream and a few others I did not bother checking out].

Awesome. It was really crunchy and had me craving for more. Too bad the queue was getting longer, and I had to go elsewhere at the moment, but this is a snack worth going to whenever I'm in the area.

Mister Donuts' Chocolate Muffins

I dropped by a nearby Mister Donuts store a few days ago with my girlfriend to have a few doughnuts and coffee for breakfast before going home. Aside from the typical holed treats that we got, I chanced upon some awesome chocolate muffins.

They are soooooooooo good. I munched on a couple of 'em and they're filled with chocolate goodness from top to bottom. Definitely not for the calorie-counters out there. But definitely worth a try, for sure!

Prologue

It's always a joy to be able to travel. If given the choice, I'd love to be able to travel at least once a quarter and experience the culture of each place through its food. Buildings, temples, and other tourist destinations have their appeal, but to me, the food is where it's at. From the street stalls to the restaurants, food has a way of defining one's culture.

This blog/journal details the places I go to, and the huge amount of food I consume along the way.
